This sail with 4 battens is a smooth high performance wave sail. The new S-1 is based on the exact same pattern as the S-1 Pro, but uses VX2 and eM3 materials to keep costs down, with only 150g extra weight (depending on size). GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY logically reduces weight, increases strength and controls stretch. The overall weight is reduced, but the most important improvement is the feel: the sail responds faster. 

The boom length has been shortened on larger sizes (4.8 and up) to reduce the aft hand pressure that occurs as the wind increases. Instead, the force in the sail has been shifted upward, giving more leverage for immediate acceleration in light winds.
